Victory Road
Street guide, Portsea
Victory Road takes its name from HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, which has been in dry dock at Portsmouth since 1922. The road runs close to the Historic Dockyard and serves as part of the access route to the heritage area. The naming of the road after the most famous warship in British naval history is entirely fitting for a street in Portsea, where the connection to the Royal Navy permeates every aspect of the built environment. Victory Road provides access to some of the dockyard-related facilities and connects to Admiralty Road and College Street. It is a street that most visitors to the Historic Dockyard will pass along or near during their visit.
