King's Road

Street guide, Portsea

King's Road is a residential street running south from Edinburgh Road in the eastern part of Portsea. Like Anglesea Road and Museum Road, it forms part of a grid of late Victorian residential streets that developed as Portsea expanded in the second half of the nineteenth century. The terraced houses here are typical of the period, built in yellow or red brick with small front gardens. Many have been converted to flats or student lets, and the University of Portsmouth's campus is within easy walking distance. King's Road is a relatively quiet residential street that benefits from its proximity to Victoria Park and the amenities along Edinburgh Road. It connects to the surrounding street grid and provides a useful route through the eastern part of Portsea.
