College Street
Street guide, Portsea
College Street lies on the edge of the Historic Dockyard area and takes its name from a former educational institution in the vicinity. The street connects the dockyard area to the surrounding residential and commercial streets of Portsea. In common with many streets close to the dockyard, its character has been shaped by the changing fortunes of the naval establishment, from the period of maximum activity during the world wars to the contraction and heritage conversion of more recent decades. College Street today is a mixed-use street with some residential properties and connections to the wider Portsea street network. It provides a useful route between the Historic Dockyard area and the Queen Street commercial centre.
