Gunwharf Quays is a large waterfront outlet shopping and leisure complex built on the site of the former HMS Vernon naval shore establishment. Opened in 2001, it contains over 90 outlet stores offering designer and high street brands at discounted prices, alongside a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes arranged around an attractive harbourside setting. The development also includes a Vue cinema, bowling alley and other leisure facilities. The waterfront promenade provides fine views across Portsmouth Harbour to Gosport. Gunwharf Quays is immediately adjacent to Portsmouth Harbour station and the Gosport Ferry, making it easily accessible by public transport. The complex attracts millions of visitors annually and has been a significant driver of regeneration in the wider Portsea area.
