Aspex Gallery

Aspex is a contemporary visual arts gallery located at Gunwharf Quays, presenting a programme of exhibitions by emerging and established artists working across a range of media including painting, sculpture, photography, film and installation. The gallery was founded in 1981 and moved to its current purpose-built space at Gunwharf Quays in 2009. Aspex also runs an education and community programme, including workshops, talks and projects that engage local residents, schools and young people. Admission to the gallery is free. Aspex plays an important role in the cultural life of Portsea and Portsmouth, providing a space for contemporary art within a largely heritage and retail-focused area.
